Icann has revealed the new internet top-level domain names, with addresses like .youtube and .music to rival the likes of .co.uk and .com.

Countless big names have applied to claim certain domain names in the expansion, including the BBC, which wants .bbc and the League of Arab States, which has applied for .arab.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has received a total of 1,930 applications for new suffixes, with 884 coming from US organisations, 303 from the Asia-Pacific area and 40 from the UK.

However, several companies are going to have to fight it out over addresses like .film and .garden, which have been applied for by more than one party.

Despite originally objecting to the expansion plans, Samsung has taken part in the process, although Coca-Cola and Kellogg’s have both held off.
